On the 15th of August 2024, Etafeni Day Care Centre Trust celebrated Women’s day which was on the 9th of August 2024. The theme of this event focused on celebrating women’s strengths and resilience in fighting the prevalent issue of Gender Based Violence & Femicide. The event was a great success as it reached a total number of 48 women from the ages of 19-83 years.
With the great partnership Etafeni has made with organisations such as DSD Zolani Centre, MOSAIC & Nyanga community day Centre were successfully able to work together and raise awareness on the issue of GBV while also educating and empowering women on how to take good care of themselves.
This included tips and knowledge on how to spot GBV signs, how to report any means of abuse and they were also educated on how to support GBV survivors. In addition to this, these women were given goodie bags (journal, whistle, mirror and Etafeni pamphlets. By doing this, Etafeni DCCT aims to raise awareness on the issue of GBV while also celebrating their strengths and resilience in fighting GBV.
