Olwethu Booi: Growing With Etafeni From Childhood to Career

Olwethu Booi, 21, has been part of the Etafeni Day Care Centre Trust community since she was a baby. She began her schooling in our ECD and progressed through the Afterschool and PowerGirls programmes. With support from our Social Work department, Olwethu eventually obtained an abridged birth certificate and applied for an ID. In 2023, she completed our Fit for Life, Fit for Work programme. Recognising her potential, Etafeni invited Olwethu to volunteer in the ECD programme. With funding from a donor, Olwethu completed a course at Grassroots Educare Trust, excelling in key areas of early childhood development. She now aims to study to become a qualified ECD practitioner.
