Etafeni 2023 – 2024 Annual Report

The financial year 2023–2024 was very difficult. The world faced a complex set of global challenges, shaped by the lingering effects of the pandemic, natural disasters, as well as the wars in the Ukraine and in the Middle East. South Africa had its fair share of problems, many of which had a profound effect on our society and the economy, with high unemployment, especially for youth, and rising inflation, which raised living costs and increased poverty. Thanks to the hard work of Etafeni’s team, volunteers, and supporters, the past financial year has been marked by growth, resilience, and many positive changes.

As we reflect on our achievements for the 2023–2024 year, it is clearthat the Etafeni Day Care Centre Trust, a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting vulnerable women and children, has made significant strides in empowering the local Nyanga community, and the outcomes of our two-year strategy have been phenomenal. The collective effort of everyone involved in Etafeni’s programmes has brought about meaningful impact and progress, and we are inspired to continue our mission with renewed enthusiasm and commitment.

Message from the Director:

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our funders and donors for their generous support, which has been instrumental in making the 2023–2024 year a remarkable success for Etafeni and has enabled us to continue our vital work in the community. A heartfelt thank you, too, to the Board of Trustees for their unwavering support and guidance throughout the year, which has been indispensable in helping Etafeni navigate challenges and remain focused on our mission. Thank you also to the Management Committee, whose tireless efforts in running the day-to-day operations have been key to our success in 2023. Lastly, we cannot overstate the incredible dedication of our staff across all departments. Their hard work, passion, and commitment to serve the community have made this year a positive one for Etafeni. Together, we have faced obstacles, achieved significant milestones, and continued to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve. Thank you all for being part of this journey.
