Ntando Khethelo shares a home with her seven siblings and two aunts. She is enrolled at Linge Primary School where she is in Grade 7. Since she has to take care of her ailing aunt when no one else is home, Ntando misses the Afterschool sessions on every other Friday. Ntando is good at Maths and English and is therefore able to assist other learners who attend the programme with these subjects.
When Ntando first joined PowerGirls, she struggled with debilitating social anxiety, fear of public speaking, and low self-esteem. Fearing judgement and rejection, she battled to participate and form relationships within the group. However, through the PowerGirls’ empowering mentorship, she has blossomed into a confident leader, overcoming her fear of public speaking and doing well academically.
She now mentors the younger girls, and excels in Maths Quiz and Spelling Bee competitions. PowerGirls has unlocked Ntando’s potential!
